Functional Test of the
|
Test of the WS 05 C with probes at ambient radiation:
When using the probes 18550 CE / DE ad 18545 CE / DE ambient radiation will trigger a dose rate value. This value will oscillate between approx. 30 nSv/h and 300 nSv/h, as the ambient radiation is no constant value.
As the probes 18509 CE / DE and 18 529 CE / DE are
designed for the measurement of higher dose rates, they will indicate 0 µSv/h when
exposed to ambient radiation. Therefore, a functional test of has to be effected
indirectly by using the dose display. For this, turn the measuring channel off and
on again. Operate the channel with a connected probe for one hour. Now, press the button
"dose" and a value of approx. 50 - 300 nSv with the corresponding integration time
will be displayed.
Additional measurements exceeding the ambient background
radiation:
For this, a radioactive test source (e. g. GRAETZ "PS 9") is needed. Generally,
137Cs with an activity of 333 kBq is used. The half life of Caesium
is 30 years. At first, programme a dose rate alarm threshold to 50 µSv/h. Put
the test source onto the marking of the probe, indicating the middle of the
GM-tube. The WS 05 C has to show a measuring value of approx. 70 µSv/h and an
optical and acoustical alarm will be triggered (only valid, when the WS 05 C
is operated without door switch function).
Optionally test of the door switch function: The door of the
monitored room is open and a triggered alarm threshold must activate an acoustical
alarm signal. In case of a closed door there will be only an optical alarm.
